About Robinswood
Everyone deserves to enjoy reading and writing
Every Robinswood publication has one simple objective: to foster a love of reading and writing – especially where students need to overcome difficulties with words and literacy.
Originally established in 1985 to provide specialist teaching support materials, Robinswood today is helping and encouraging learners and readers of all ages with an ever-growing range of highly acclaimed and innovative publications.
Robinswood has a reputation for producing literacy and special needs teaching materials of the highest quality. We have achieved this by working only with authors of solid professional standing to produce publications that meet the exacting needs of teachers and learners.

The Lifeboat Read and Spell Scheme – boundary-breaking literacy teaching
In the year 2000, Robinswood took an exciting step forward with the publication of the Lifeboat Read and Spell Scheme. This unique learning programme, designed by a leading team of dyslexia consultants, has been enthusiastically taken up by a wide variety of literacy teachers, working in a great many teaching contexts.
In the words of Professor TR Miles, former editor of The Dyslexia Journal, “This Scheme… so obviously represents good practice, that one can recommend it as being suitable for teaching reading and spelling to all students, whether dyslexic or not.”
The growth of Robinswood
With this Read and Spell Scheme and our growing list of teaching and reading resources – including the recent Left Hand Writing Skills series – Robinswood is becoming an increasingly familiar and respected name in literacy teaching. This is at all levels and sectors, from special needs to mainstream schooling, at secondary as well as primary level, in adult centres and colleges, YOIs and SureStarts. In addition, Robinswood teaching resources are currently recommended and used by many LEA Learning Support and Advisory Centres, as well as by leading charities and training organisations, such as the British Dyslexia Association, The Dyslexia Institute, The Dyspraxia Trust, and the Hornsby and Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centres.
Meeting local global needs?
With the growth of local digital printing, Robinswood's range of specialized teaching support materials are ideally positioned to meet the needs of a clearly defined set of learners, wherever they are in the world – whatever the size of the market. We are always interested to hear from teachers, distributors or publishers from any part of the globe who would like to work with our products.
