Everyone deserves to enjoy reading and writing
We believe that every child – and every adult for that matter – has the right to experience the joy of the written word. That’s especially true for those who may have special learning needs or some degree of dyslexia, or who may simply have been ‘put off’ reading, or be aspiring readers whose their English is a Second Language.
So, in addition to titles that anyone can enjoy, Robinswood publishes a range of titles to help child – and adult – learners on the road to more accomplished and rewarding reading. And writing: especially handwriting for left-handed writers!
Robinswood Press is an independent company which is principally engaged in educational publishing, but with a growing list of children’s story-books and other titles. Whatever the subject, each Robinswood publication has been carefully chosen or commissioned to represent the highest standards, from authors of proven professional standing. Many titles are long-established and very well respected in their field

Robinswood launched the Lifeboat Read and Spell Scheme in year 2000. This unique learning programme, designed by a leading team of dyslexia consultants, was enthusiastically taken up by literacy teachers, working in a great many teaching contexts and is now used in many primary, secondary and special schools. In the words of Professor Tim Miles, former editor of The Dyslexia Journal, “This Scheme… so obviously represents good practice, that one can recommend it as being suitable for teaching reading and spelling to all students, whether dyslexic or not.”
More recently, for primary students and for teenagers, we have introduced the High Interest Series to tempt those students who “don’t do books” to get reading. These pacy novels grab the attention and interest of readers, from the avid to the book-shy,

Robinswood has therefore become an increasingly familiar name in literacy teaching. This is at all levels and sectors, from special needs to mainstream schooling, at secondary as well as primary level, in adult centres and colleges, YOIs and SureStarts. In addition, Robinswood teaching resources are currently recommended and used by many LEA Learning Support and Advisory Centres, as well as by leading charities and training organisations, such as the British Dyslexia Association, Dyslexia Action, The Dyspraxia Foundation and the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre.
